Chapter Fifteen

~ Alejandro ~

As soon as I sat down at my desk with my morning coffee, I called Jake. After discussing it with Delancy and Hugo over the last week, the shipping business sounded interesting, and I wanted to do it, but I wanted to start out small and work my way to something bigger.

In the meantime, I wanted to start the security company and I had the perfect spot to do it in. Turns out, I owned several warehouses on the docks and around the city, including the two right down the street from the mansion I had purchased. I was going to have them retrofitted and turned into the base of operations for my new security company.

I was hoping Jake could give me a few ideas on how to start it all up. He knew what was needed out there as he had a lot of security personnel working for him.

Delancy was going to be my ace in the hole. He had so many good ideas that I was brimming with different avenues to pursue for the security company. For a man who played it fast and loose on the news, he was pretty much a genius when it came to this stuff.

I never would have thought it, which I guess was kind of the point. No one looking at Delancy and his antics would think he was a hacker with a white knight streak a mile wide.

I was a little concerned that he hadn't put up that much of a stink over me being a mafia don. He was more concerned about how we could compromise so we would both get what we wanted out of this marriage than he was with what I did for a living.

Not sure how I felt about that.

"Jake, it’s Alejandro."

"Hey, how's married life?"

"So far so good. Wish you and the others had been able to attend, but it was supposed to be a small affair. Although it had been bigger than I expected. I hadn't known anyone who had attended except Martinez."

"Is he gone now?"

"I have people watching him," I replied. "He packed up his house and had everything loaded into moving trucks. I'm just not sure where he is moving it to. I'll make a plan once I do."

"Let me know if I can be of any help."

"That's actually why I am calling. I want to run a few things by you."

"Shoot."

"I want to work on the shipping company, but I'm going to start out small with that and work my way up. There's a lot I need to learn about it before I go international."

"That sounds reasonable."

"It's the security company I wanted to talk to you about. I have a few ideas I wanted to pass by you." I let out a small chuckle. "Well, Delancy had a few ideas."

"You told him?"

I didn't have to ask what he was referring to.

"Yeah, I did. I felt he had a right to know."

"And what did he say?"

"That's the thing. He didn't seem that upset by it.
